こんにちは。だいぶ久しぶりの投稿となりますが、今回はフロッギング・モリーのDrunken Lullabies (2002)から、タイトル曲の”Drunken Lullabies” (ヨッパライの子守唄) です。ジャンルはアイリッシュ・パンクといって、アイルランドの民謡とパンク・ロックの融合ということです。バンジョーとディストーションのかかったギター、そしてバイオリンがとても陽気なメロディーを奏でていますが、意外にもただの乾杯ソングという訳ではないようです。。。

**バンシーとは、アイルランドに伝わる叫び声をあげて人の死を予告する妖精のことです。
そうです。実はこの歌、ただの乾杯ソングではなく、アイルランドの平和を祈る歌なんです。イギリス人だろうがアイルランド人だろうがカトリックだろうがプロテスタントだろうが、みんな同じように苦しんでいるんだから、もう５００年も経って何のために争っているのかもよく分からずに無益な殺し合いをするよりも、みんなで乾杯しよう！というメッセージが込められているということです。十字架にかけられたイエスにとっても、人々のために命を捧げたのに宗派の違いのような問題をめぐって殺し合いをされたら心外もいいところでしょう。
